DNA PRO CYCLING JUNE RACE RECAP:

Since the start of the DNA Pro Cycling team, DNA Cycling continues to strive to push the woman’s side of the sport forward. With the support of DNA Cycling, the team put together an ambitious plan to tackle some of the most challenging gravel races and criterium events in one month. These events included Tulsa Tough, FNLD Gravel (in Finland), and numerous criteriums throughout the US, including the Tour of America’s Dairyland (where Harriet Owen became the first rider to win 3 ToAD omniums in a row). Read more about it from the team in this Ride Journal.

Tulsa Tough:

We had ambitious plans going into Tulsa Tough’s three criteriums, especially for the first one, the Blue Dome Crit, which was also race #3 on the American Criterium Cup (ACC) calendar. Our goals for this first race were to defend the ACC Sprint Points Lead (Kimberly Lucie) and win the race (riding for Olivia Cummins, the U23 national criterium champion). Mission accomplished on both goals. All six team members did their job resulting in Kimberly retaining the ACC green points leader jersey and Olivia winning her first big professional criterium. Olivia raced in the pink leader jersey on day 2’s FC Tulsa Arts District Crit.

On the second day, Olivia finished third and tied in the omnium lead with Samantha Schneider/LegionLA. Olivia repeated for 3rd place at the River Parks Criterium (“Cry Baby Hill”), securing 2nd place in the final omnium standings. The team worked hard for three days resulting in three podiums and a second in the omnium.

FNLD GRVL:

Heidi Franz crossed the “Finnish” line in 2nd place at FNLD Gravel. This was an incredible first-time event organized by Tiffany Cromwell (Canyon-SRAM), Valterri Bottasv (F1 driver for Alfa Romeo), and Amy Charity (SBT GRVL founder and former DNA Pro Cycling team member). DNA teammates Heidi and Heather Fischer, racing on their ENVE MOGs, reported that the race started fast and furious – the first 20 min were at max effort. After the field broke up, it was a matter of working with the fastest groups to the finish at 177km. Tiffany Cromwell would finish first, with Heidi chasing in for second place just under 9 minutes later. There were big celebrations post-race, including a podium presentation where Tiffany would graciously hand down the #VB77 helmet award to Heidi.
